The J.C.C. of Staten Island will hold its second Viva Las Vegas Casino & Bingo Night at Bernikow JCC at 1466 Manor Road on Saturday, March 16, from 8pm-12:00am. The evening will include Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Slots, Bingo and Texas Hold’em. Friendly, professional dealers will be happy to teach the rules of the games. Winning chips will be redeemed for great prizes at the end of the evening. A buffet and entertainment by Ann Marie Nacchio Trio will add to the festivities. The $50 per person fee will include $50 in playing chips or a 1 – 10 game bingo package. The Texas Hold’em Tournament requires an additional $50 buy-in and will be limited to 30 players and begins promptly at 8:00pm. Advanced registration for the evening is requested. Fee at the door will $65 per person. Proceeds will benefit the JCC’s Special Needs and Youth Departments. These departments provide activities geared to children with Autism, along with after school tutoring, and sports and recreation programs to promote wellness and socialization. The inaugural event in 2012 drew over 300 lucky players who enjoyed an evening of games, food and entertainment and valuable prizes. All adolescents, in all economic and social circumstances, need generous amounts of help, instruction, discipline, support, and caring as they make their way from childhood through adolescence and into adulthood. They can find this assistance at the Staten Island JCC. The funds raised will directly benefit Youth Programs at the JCC. These programs provide after school tutoring, sports and recreation to promote wellness and socialization, and activities geared to children with Autism. The Jewish Community Center of Staten Island is devoted to providing appropriate social, cultural, recreational, educational opportunities through ongoing programs, classes and special events for children, teens and adults with various disabilities. They are currently developing new programs for individuals with disabilities and their families. Current programs for children include Camp Weissglass, our camp for children with developmental delays, and Camp Independence, a camp for children with diabetes. In addition, First Foot Forward, our special education preschool, provides services for children with speech and language, motor and cognitive delays. The Learning Institute provides tutoring services for school age children. The Chaverim group incorporates Jewish experiences through hands on activities. The Beacon Tottenville program promotes independence through weekly educational trips.
