Robin McCaffrey of MESA is appointed Principal Emeritus

DALLAS - April 4, 2013 - PRLog -- MESA announced today the appointment of Robin McCaffrey as Principal Emeritus.  McCaffrey served as Principal at MESA from 1997-2012.  Throughout his tenure with MESA, McCaffrey oversaw planning projects related to development, public improvement, growth management, growth strategy, and growth policy, which were instrumental in attracting private investment, creating value to support design policy, and influencing the pattern of development to transfer greater value to the larger community. In addition to being a certified planner, McCaffrey is a registered architect. His architectural commissions range from housing developments and single residences to institutional facilities such the Dallas Museum of Natural History; commercial properties such as Twin Creeks Golf Center in Allen, Texas and park facilities such as Arbor Hills Nature Preserve in Plano, Texas and the new Moore Park in Dallas, Texas.

McCaffrey has been active in national and international projects establishing award-winning comprehensive plans for the City of Brownsville, City of Seguin, City of Kyle, and most recently the Downtown Plan for the City of Brenham. One of his most notable involvements is with the Bi-National Economic Development Initiative between the US and Mexico. A successful agreement was attained between the Cities of Brownsville, Texas and Matamoros, Mexico to jointly pursue Bi-National Economic Development as a pilot initiative that demonstrates the use of economic development as a means of restoring border stability.

Additionally, McCaffrey has received critical acclaim from professional journals, local press, and university and national publications such as Site Selection, Texas Architect, and Southwest Journal of Economics. He has been an active speaker for the American Planning Association speaking at over 16 Texas and National APA conferences. He will be speaking at the upcoming National APA Conference in Chicago on April 13, 2013 on the topic of Creating an Investment Environment to Revitalize Downtowns.

McCaffrey will pursue personal interests, work with existing clients and continue to be available to MESA for future endeavors  related to planning and economic development. He is also currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Trinity Commons Foundation.
