Follow on Google News | Puppy Mill Dog Walks On Grass For The First Time - After Being Saved By Colorado Dog RescueLizzy spent 12 years living in a small wire cage. She never once touched the ground and she never knew the kind touch of a human hand - until National Mil Dog Rescue saved her.
Since the video of Lizzy was posted on National Mill Dog Rescue's YouTube channel on April 1st, it has been picked up by numerous media sources such as: MSN, Huffington Post, Today, TV Guide, Yahoo, The Daily Mail, NNL TV, Nightcap TV, AOL, Orvis News, Life With Dogs TV and Global Animal amongst others. The extraordinary number of video views has been a tremendous boost in helping create awareness about the horrific commercial dog breeding industry. When Lizzy was first rescued her coat was long and terribly matted, her mouth was filled with badly decayed teeth and her left eye was damaged. National Mill Dog Rescue immediately provided her the veterinary care necessary to make her comfortable. Only 6 weeks after her rescue Lizzy is happily living with a wonderful family, experiencing all the firsts she never knew before: a soft bed, toys and treats, laying in the sunshine, playing in the grass, and most importantly, love. Watch this short video of Lizzy walking on grass for the very first time: http://youtu.be/ National Mill Dog Rescue is a Colorado Springs based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to rescue, rehabilitate and re-home discarded breeding dogs and to educate the general public about the cruel realities of puppy mills. NMDR has rescued over 7,500 puppy mill survivors while proudly maintaining a strict no-kill policy. They pride themselves on providing the highest level of veterinary care to every dog they rescue, without exception. Immediately upon arriving, the dogs are groomed, many for the very first time in their lives. Soon they learn about all the simple pleasures they had never previously known – clean water, quality food, toys and treats, a soft bed, and the kind touch of a human hand. NMDR relies almost solely on volunteers to care for the dogs from the moment they are surrendered to the time they are adopted and beyond. It’s the generosity of the public in the form of donations and grants that allows NMDR to continue their efforts to save the puppy mill dogs.
