By: MirriNor After experiencing a 30% uplift in sales Wold Top Brewery has re-ordered another 5,000 units of packaging made from revolutionary MirriNor material. Gill Mellor, owner at Wold Top Brewery commented “The new Wold Top Brewery boxes have been very popular, with praise for the packaging from both customers and the trade. Sales have been very encouraging, with a 30% uplift since using the MirriNor pack” MirriNor is a ground breaking, metallised packaging board, specifically designed as part of a joint venture between Smurfit Kappa Sheetfeeding and Mirri, a leading worldwide brand in metallic laminated board and paper. This silver laminated board combines a high quality, biodegradable metallic film from Mirri with Smurfit Kappa’s patented and groundbreaking T-Flute microflute corrugated board. This combination creates a highly innovative, premium metallic board product that offers a high quality finish, great printability, environmental credentials and the revolutionary characteristics of Smurfit’s T-Flute microflute corrugated board in terms of high strength and light weight at 435gsm (770micron). The Wold Top Brewery pack design was produced using the Color-Logic Design Suite™ to create a luxurious box package with shimmering metallic gradations and golden overtones. The Color-Logic system removes the need for white ink masking, as complex white ink areas are automatically generated as the designer integrates colours and effects from the Color-Logic palettes and plugins. The box was UV litho printed by Color-logic licensed printer, Oriel, based in Hull. MirriNor has been shortlisted for two awards for the Wold Top Brewery pack at the International Beer Awards held in Prague. With nominations in the categories of Pack Design of the Year and Packaging Innovation of the Year. The awards will be announced at an evening ceremony that will be held along side the Canadean International Beer Strategy Conference in Prague. Richard Gillgrass Managing Director at Celloglas and Mirri commented “We are delighted that MirriNor has been shortlisted for these two prestigious awards. MirriNor is a truly innovative substrate and we are very excited about its prospects in the drinks sector. MirriNor has been used for a number of drinks brands and interest in the product is very high”. Richard Revell Technical Sales Manager at Smurfit Kappa commented “MirriNor is a very important product within the Smurfit Kappa Sheetfeeding portfolio and to be recognised by these awards is excellent”. Richard Ainge, Chief Technical Officer, at Color-Logic commented “We are extremely pleased that the MirriNor pack using Color-Logic software has been shortlisted for these two awards and we look forward to working on further drink packaging projects with MirriNor in the near future”.
