June 18, 2013 - PRLog -- More book awards than one person can easily hold up. In a new photo released today, that is what one new publishing company proudly brandishes. A small, innovative publisher Boutique of Quality Books (BQB) now has six of the largest nonprofit awards for independently published books. This nonprofit awards program honors outstanding books as judged by leaders in independent book publishing. View newly released pictures: http://bqbpublishing.com/events-for-bqb-publishing/.
"We like to think of our awards program as the 'Sundance' of the book publishing world," says Catherine Goulet, Chair of the 2013 Next Generation Indie Book Awards program.

Independent book publishing companies are separate and competing the major conglomerates that dominate the book publishing industry. The indies include small presses, larger independent publishers, university presses, e-book publishers, and self-published authors.

According to Goulet, "Like other independent artists, many indie book publishers face challenges that the industry giants don't experience. They typically have to work a lot harder to get their best books into retail stores and ultimately into the hands of readers."

BQB’s Julie Breedlove traveled to the awards ceremony held at the Harvard Club in New York on May 29. “Unbelievable pride. That’s what I’m feeling. Six new awards for our start-up company is incredible! Our authors are amazing, and I’m proud of the team at BQB for their hard work,” said Breedlove during the ceremony.

Kenneth Capps, author of Forgiving Waters, winner of the First Novel category, says: “Thank you BQB for what is truly one of the pinnacle moments of my life.”

BQB selections took top honors in several categories in the 2013 Next Generation Indie Book Awards. They are:

Forgiving Waters, a novel by Kenneth Capps (http://www.kennethlcapps.com/), secured the top prize in the First Novel (under 80,000 words) category of the Indie Book Awards. This is the second award for Forgiving Waters: it brought in a Reader’s Favorite Award in 2012. (http://www.kennethlcapps.com/)

Wellness 100: 100 Carbs/100 Recipes (http://wellness100.us/) by Dr. Amber French and chef Kari Morris is the first place winner for the Diet/Nutrition/Food category.  This book offers sound, easy-to-understand nutritional advice as well as one hundred vibrant, flavorful recipes that will help readers make smart food choices for a lifetime of health.
