The New 2015 Honda Civic Type-R has been Teased in Official Video

HIGHLAND, Ind. - Aug. 26, 2013 - PRLog -- Honda has recently released a teaser video to announce the imminent arrival of the 2015 Honda Civic Type-R. Along with the official teaser, there have also been spy shots of the 2015 Civic Type-R captured. This new Civic model isn’t expected to hit the streets until sometime in 2015, however. It is expected that Honda will release something at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but it’s not known at this time whether it will be a promotional video or pre-production concept of the Type-R.

Based on photographs that have captured the 2015 Type-R, it appears this edition of the will be more powerful than its previous iterations. Spy shots have shown four exhaust pipes and an intercooler behind the rear bumper. It is expected that the new Civic will come powered by four-cylinder engine that will deliver more than 200 hp. There has been talk that this vehicle will be turbocharged; if that is the case then it is likely to deliver over 300 hp.

According to Honda CEO Takanobu Ito, one of the goals of the designers of the new Type-R is to set a new front-wheel drive lap record of the Nürburgring. The current record of 8:07.97 is held by the 265 hp producing Renault Megane RS Trophy and was set back in 2011.

The 2015 Honda Civic Type-R will feature a five-door body style as opposed to the three-door body style that the previous generation used. Other exterior features that give it an aggressive aerodynamic look include a chin spoiler, rocker panels, sporty wheels, big rear wig, and low profile tires.
