Cerritos College Hosts 14th Annual Los Angeles County Auto Tech Competition for High School Students

NORWALK, Calif. - Dec. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- On December 14, 2013, the Southland Motor Car Dealers Association (SMCDA) and the Greater Los Angeles New Car Dealers (GLANCDA) and the Cerritos College Automotive department are hosting the 14^th Annual Los Angeles County Auto Tech competition for High School Seniors.

"As a new instructor, I am really excited to see how the students will perform in the hands-on competition,” said Cerritos College Automotive Instructor, Joe Mulleary.“I was impressed by their dedication when I proctored the written part of the competition at Longo Toyota a few weeks ago.”

The hands-on competition will be held at the Southland Cerritos Center for Transportation Technologies (SCCTT) at Cerritos College. Registration starts at 8:00a.m, the competition begins at 9:00a.m., and the awards are presented at 12:00p.m. The winning students will have the opportunity to win a trip to New York to compete at the National Auto Tech Competition at the New York Auto show on April 22 and 23, 2014.

14 High Schools are participating from SMCDA and GLANCDA, including; Artesia, California, Montebello, Narbonne, Pioneer, South East ROP, Whittier, Agoura, Canyon, Mark Keppel, Palmdale, Saugus, Upland, and Van Nuys.

Sponsors for the event include; Mercedes-Benz USA, Longo Toyota, Subaru, LA CarGuy, Snap-On Tools, BMW, and Ford.

Cerritos College Automotive Technology Program offers certificates, degrees and special programs in automotive repair, collision repair, alternative fuels, smog training, advanced transportation technology and automotive management.
