Pathway Programs at Cerritos College Offer Project Lead the Way Classes for Spring 2014

The Cerritos College Pathway Programs are offering Project Lead the Way classes for Spring 2014 for High School students.
 
NORWALK, Calif. - Dec. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- The classes are available to the Paramount Unified School District, Downey Unified School District, Bellflower Unified School District, ABC Unified School District, and Norwalk La Mirada Unified School District.

The Cerritos College and Project Lead the Way classes provides students with an opportunity to explore the various careers through hands on learning, allowing them to explore an activity they may not have an opportunity to participate in, improve skills.  The classes will introduce students to engineering career pathways.

The classes available for Spring 2014 are: Engineering Design Technology (ENGT) 103 Intro to Engineering Design Using Inventor, ENGT 101 Principles of Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology (ET) 103 Electronics for Engineering Technology, and Machine Tool Technology (MTT) 180 Robotics for CNC Machines.

Each class is 3 units of college credit. "Through the application of skills learned at school, students are familiarized to college at a younger age. This builds their confidence proves to them that college is an attainable goal.  The programs encourage students to pursue and successfully complete post-secondary degrees and industry valued certifications, while increasing student engagement and achievement," said Dean of Technology Division at Cerritos College, Dr. Nick Real.

Cerritos College is one of three post-secondary schools and five universities in California that are PLTW certified schools. In order to be a PLTW certified school, instructors need to complete a rigorous academic training and receive certification for each of the courses they teach. Cerritos College has three PLTW certified instructors; Professor Alan Jamka, Dr. Miodrag Micic, and Dr. Nick Real.
