Follow on Google News | Cerritos College’s 1st Energy Pathways Program for Engineering Technology Students GraduateThe Advanced Transportation Technology and Energy program (ATTE) and South Bay Center for Counseling and Community (SBCC) Development collaborated to offer the first Energy Pathways Program.
Partners included; All Safe, Phillips 66, Supervisor Don Knabe, Demenno Kerdoon, Tesoro, United Steel Workers Union Local 675, United Way of Greater Los Angeles, Valero, Grifols, Exxon Mobil, and the Energy Pathway Program. The program started in January 2013 and ended in December 2013 at Cerritos College. Students who completed the program received a certificate from the program, and were also eligible for a Certificate of Achievement from Cerritos College. In the program, the students learned about engineering technology, process control, the basics of motor control, safety, hazmat, and blueprint reading. Their certification will allow them to obtain jobs in refineries and other process control industries. 46 students graduated on January 31, 2014. The students received their certificates at the Graduation Celebration on Cerritos Campus at 3:00p.m. “The next Energy Pathways Program has already started in January 2014 and we hope to offer the program again in January 2015 as well,” said Jannet Malig, Director of Advanced Transportation Technologies and Energy (ATTE). ABOUT THE PROGRAMS: The ATTE Program was established by the California Community Colleges Economic and Workforce Development Program to provide students, technicians, faculty, public and other initiative centers with the education, training and resources they need to effectively learn, teach and work with advanced transportation and energy technologies. ATTE Program Topics include; Electric, Hybrid, and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Programs, Gaseous Fuel Programs for Heavy Duty Vehicles and Light Duty Vehicles, Intelligent Transportation Systems Programs, Railroad Operation Programs, Lightrail Maintenance Aeronautics and Flight, Technology Programs, Motorcycle Maintenance Programs, Automotive Clean Air Car, Emissions Programs, and Energy Programs. For forty years, South Bay Center for Counseling (SBCC) has helped communities in Los Angeles County discover and develop tools for individual and collective well-being. SBCC's goal is to provide members of our communities with the tools and resources to carry out this personal and collective transformation over the long-term, and not solely as a short-term solution, through programs.
