By: L.A. Wolves FC Coach Skouras maintains a United States Soccer Federation National “B” Coaching License. In 2014, Coach Skouras was named a Head Coach for the North American Soccer League (NASL) Combines in Irvine Ca. Prior to assisting with coaching and evaluating duties with the NASL, Coach Skouras was the Chief Scout for the Chicago Fire of Major League Soccer for the Southern California Region from 2011 to 2013. Prior to his scouting tenure with the Chicago Fire, Skouras was the Head Coach for two USL/PDL Clubs in Southern California that included the Lancaster Rattlers in 2008/9 and the San Diego Flash in 1998. Skouras Coached the Flash to a 21-7 record as the club won the Pacific Division and was a Western Conference Finalist as the club had the second best record in the A-League next to the Rochester Rhinos. Coach Skouras was also a former professional player playing on the indoor side where he signed his first pro contact at the age of 19 with the Canton Invaders where he played for three seasons from 1986-1988. Skouras was then traded to the Chicago Power where he played from 1989 to 1990. Finally Skouras would wind down his playing career with the Tulsa Ambush where he played from 1990-1991. Yan Skwara, President/General Manager of L.A. Wolves stated, “Coach Skouras is a personal friend and a great coach and with that being said, I am very happy to say that the Wolves players and fans have an excellent coach behind the wheel to lead this club to victory. I have worked with Costa going back many years so it’s always nice to work with someone you know and trust. I know that Costa is committed to this Wolves organization for the long haul and at the same time he knows the game results in the short term are very important. I think Coach Costa and Coach Miguel will work well with each other as we have over 50 players in our system right now between our first team and our reserves. Both coaches will work closely with each other to maximize our player development programs and produce winning results. L.A. Wolves Head Coach Costa Skouras commented, “I am very excited to take over the reigns as Head Coach for the Wolves as both the President Yan Skwara and Coach Miguel have done a great job in shaping and preparing this squad for the upcoming 2014/15 UPSL Season. The club has big aspirations which is important to me. The fact that the Wolves were the first professional soccer team in the city of Los Angeles back in 1967 means a lot to me as we all want to bring the Wolves back into the mix and make the Wolves into a club that the soccer community of Los Angeles can support and cheer.
