Follow on Google News | ![]() L.A. Wolves FC Roll to 5-2 Win in Friendly versus Del Rey SCUPSL’ s L.A. WOLVES FC Finish Pre-Season Undefeated at 3-0-2
By: L.A Wolves FC This was the first match for newly named L.A. Wolves FC Head Coach Costa Skouras who was looking to get off to a solid coaching debut. The match started with the Wolves getting on the score board first in the 22nd minute off a nicely timed run on the left side from Forward Andre Toroldo who advanced the ball all the way to the left corner before sending a nice low cross to an on rushing Luis Trujillo who nicely connected on the cross hammering the ball in the back of the net making it 1-0 Wolves. Del Rey FC came back tying the game in the 25’ minute on a well hit ball from the top of the box beating Wolves Goalkeeper Eduardo Ciriaco. The Wolves responded in the 32’ minute with a nice goal off a quickly taken free kick by Trujillo who found Andre Toroldo just on top of the box and went left and beat two players slamming home a nice shot giving the Wolves a 2-1 lead. Del Rey SC would not go away and off a poorly taken goal kick by the Wolves the ball wound up in the center of the field where Del Rey immediately played a through ball back into the Wolves box and the Wolves were caught flat footed and as a Del Rey Forward hit a nice shot into the back of the net tying the game again 2-2. The Wolves responded with pressure and were rewarded in the 40’ minute after a free kick taken by Wolves Midfielder Diego Toroldo who spotted Midfielder Chris Lopez who tapped home what turned out to be the game winning goal giving the Wolves a 3-2 lead which is where the two teams would go into at half time. The second half was all L.A Wolves from a scoring stand point. The Wolves defense was led by Defenders Miguel Padilla and Stuart Sloan who kept a very tight string on Del Rey throughout the second half keeping Del Rey off the board. The Wolves made the score 4-2 in ther 68’ minute of a Luis Trujillo goal who netted his second goal of the match off a rebound shot from Andre Toroldo. The Wolves would cap of the night with a nice goal which started with a long ball from Wolves Defender Stuart Sloan from the back to Forward Trujilo who collected the ball and took it to the line and crossed the ball back to the middle of the box to a waiting Andre Toroldo who also picked his second goal of the night. Costa Skouras Head Coach of the L.A. Wolves stated, “It was a good result as the boys put in a good effort tonight. It was my first game as head coach so I got to get a much better look at players in a game situation and that obviously helps in evaluating things moving forward. We have some very talented players and we also have some players that need some work but overall we have a good base of players that will work hard so that we can get the overall results that we all want.
