Galaxy Press Attends Tucson Festival of Books

A very high demand for L. Ron Hubbard fiction was the result of the first time-attendance by Galaxy Press at the Tucson Festival of Books

TUCSON, Ariz. - March 18, 2015 - PRLog -- Galaxy Press was a first time attendee of the Tucson Festival of Books which took place on the University of Arizona campus this past weekend where over 130,000 book lovers gathered over the two-day event.

In addition to sales of the fiction works of L. Ron Hubbard, of which “Battlefield Earth” was the top selling title, Galaxy Press also featured several volumes in the Writers of the Future series.  On hand from Tucson, AZ, was Trevor Smith, the 2014 grand prize winner of the Illustrators of the Future Contest for a book signing of “Writers of the Future Volume 30,” the book he was published in.

“Science fiction was clearly the top selling genre,” stated John Goodwin, President Galaxy Press.  “’Battlefield Earth’ remains our all-time bestselling title and with the increased interest in short fiction by readers, ‘Writers of the Future,’ is now equally seeing a very high demand.”

L. Ron Hubbard began his writing career in 1934 with the publication of “The Green God,” a mystery thriller.  His writing skills rapidly grew, becoming a writer in all the popular genres of fiction.  In addition to mystery, adventure and western, he excelled in science fiction and fantasy as one of the original crew of writers who created what later became known as the Golden Age of Science Fiction.  In the early 1980s in celebration of 50 years as a professional writer, Hubbard released “Battlefield Earth” which hit international bestseller lists and remains to this day one of the bestselling science fiction novels of all time. Then in1983, as a continuation of a lifetime of helping the aspiring artist, Hubbard initiated the Writers of the Future Contest to provide a means for creative writers to be seen and acknowledged. Due to the Contest’s success, its sister competition, Illustrators of the Future, was created.  Together they have become the single most celebrated international forum for the novice writer and artist to realize a professional career in speculative fiction.

In 2014, Galaxy Press completed a six-year program to re-publish over 150 short stories and novelettes written by Mr. Hubbard in the 1930s and 1940s, in the form of an 80-volume book and full-cast “movie of the mind” audio drama series. These stories span every genre from western and mystery to fantasy and science fiction and can be found by going to www.GalaxyPress.com.
