Follow on Google News | The Yot Spot in Ardrishaig begins crowd fundingWith the finish line finally in sight the Yot Spot chandlers, gift shop and restaurant finally prepare to open - with a little help from you!
By: The Yot Spot Company director Michael Forbes explained that the business had been the product of chance visit to Ardrishaig, "A number of years ago i was passing through Ardrishaig and saw the old ferry terminal building was available to let. I thought it was a great spot with lots of potential, and created a business plan around that." But complications with planning consent and obstacles that came up during the refurbishment of the building have held the project up in recent years, and only now the business prepares to move in and start trading (currently planned for beginning of July) "It's been a difficult few years to say the least," explained Michael, "we had to ensure we had the funding before we could commit to any agreements and so we had all the funding in place over 2 years ago. The grace periods on our loans ran out some time ago and since then we have been paying the loans back with nothing to show. This is why we decided to give crowdfunding a try, as we near the opening and want to ensure we can cover the slight shortfall." The business is hoping to raise £10,000 in the month of June using Crowdfunder, but failing to reach the target means the business would get nothing at all. Gifts such as branded mugs and free meals are being offered in return for pledges from people who want to see the project progress and see the business help to fulfill the small town's potential as a great tourist destination. The first few days of the campaign are critical for the campaign. A good start will ensure others get involved in helping the business to reach it's target. The campaign can be viewed at - www.crowdfunder.co.uk/ So whatever your reason for backing the project - whether it's to see marine tourism in scotland grow, to see increased employment in mid Argyll, or simply to have another great place to eat - then get involved. Make that pledge and help to make it happen! End
