Yot Spot unveil top new head chef

ARDRISHAIG, Scotland - Jan. 23, 2016 - PRLog -- The Yot Spot in Ardrishaig, Argyll has reached another milestone - with the opening of the restaurant and the arrival of the new chef.

After years of delays the business finally opened the doors of the yacht chandlers and gift shop late in the summer of 2015. This was followed by the addition of a range of services such as bike hire, laundry, showers and tourist information, but now the business has finally come to the end of a long road, adding the restaurant and takeaway to the list of facilities at the south end of the Crinan Canal.

Heading up the team in the kitchen is new chef Angus MacNeil. Having worked in recent years in a team gaining 2 rosettes in 2 separate establishments before moving to Tironan House on Mull where he helped to retain a 3 rosette rating, Angus has brought a fresh, positive approach to the restaurant. He has a real passion for food and likes to focus on local ingredients and stamping dishes with his own flavour. His menu has drawn diners from far and wide, and the feedback has been complimentary to say the least, with game terrine as a starter and pork belly two of the firm favourites amongst the visitors.

"The Saloon" at the Yot Spot is serving food right through from 8am till late, with light bites available throughout the day, a lunch menu from 12noon till 2.30pm, and dinner from 6pm till late. Local fresh baking and teas and coffees are also available throughout the day in the comfortable and welcoming setting.

"I'm delighted to see the last section of the business open its doors," said manager Lizzie MacVean, "the restaurant has clearly been in demand for some time now, with locals and visitors alike enquiring over the past few months about when we'd be serving food. The response has been great and we had a really busy period to kick off the new year"

As the Yot Spot approaches its first full season the business hopes to encourage more people to mid Argyll by offering a range of facilities to visitors by land and sea, and the restaurant is set to be one of the highlights...
