First Annual 24-7 Intouch Mark Scheifele Hockey Camp & Golf Tournament Raises $80,000 for KidSport

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - July 16, 2015 - PRLog -- 24-7 Intouch announced today that $80,000 was raised by the first annual Mark Scheifele Golf Tournament (http://www.kidsportcanada.ca/manitoba/winnipeg/calendar/mark-scheifele-golf-tournament/) and Hockey Camp (http://www.kidsportcanada.ca/manitoba/winnipeg/calendar/mark-scheifele-hockey-camp/) in support of KidSport Winnipeg.

“I had such a great time on ice with the kids at the hockey camp and also with all the players at the golf tournament,” said Scheifele. “To know these two events raised such a considerable amount and that it will go directly towards getting more kids in the community into sports is tremendously rewarding.  I’d like to personally thank all those who participated and all the sponsors and volunteers who made this so successful. I'm looking forward to making the events even bigger and better next year.”

The sold out hockey camp ran from June 20 to 21 at Gateway Community Centre, with 114 kids aged 5-12 participating. The successful hockey camp was followed by a golf tournament on June 22 at Niakwa Golf and Country Club. Professional athletes and local celebrities such as Winnipeg Jets Michael Hutchinson and Mark Stuart, Olympic Gold Medalists Dara Howell and Jill Officer, paraplegic Olympian Jared Funk, and Winnipeg Blue Bomber Troy Westwood participated in the sold out golf tournament with business leaders and community members.

“In Winnipeg, organized sports are a huge part of our culture.” said Jeff Fettes, COO at 24-7 Intouch. “Mark and his teammates are a great example of what can be learned from organized sports. Teamwork and dedication are lessons that should be available to every one of our children in Winnipeg.”

All the proceeds raised will go towards removing financial barriers so that kids in Winnipeg will be able to participate in organized sports.
