McDugald-Steele’s new headquarter building receives LEED® Gold Certification

HOUSTON - Oct. 15, 2015 - PRLog -- McDugald-Steele Landscape Architects & Contractors proudly announces its new headquarters has received LEED® Gold Certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC). The building, located at 811 E Crosstimbers Street in Houston, Texas, is a complete renovation of a former furniture warehouse.

Built in 1998, the 12,000 SF two-story steel structure has been renovated and adapted into cutting-edge Design studios and Administration offices. Bathed in natural light from an abundance of low-E glazed windows, the voluminous space houses employees in a contemporary, open-office concept. "Green" features of the building include a metal "cool roof" designed to reduce the heat island effect. The use of local construction materials reduced energy use and air pollution from transportation vehicles.

Sustainable features of the building's interior workplace design include the use of Low VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds), low-emitting and recycled materials as well as lighting sensor systems which turn off lights in unoccupied spaces.
