Math Family Fun Night at Science Academy

MOUNT PROSPECT, Ill. - March 11, 2016 - PRLog -- The Science Academy of Chicago will be hosting a math themed family fun night on Friday, March 11 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. to bring together the school community and to encourage the love of math.

As a part of the monthly family fun nights, the fifth and sixth grade classes are coordinating a series of math games and activities to engage and teach people math.

"We decided to do a math theme program because we want to show our families that math is fun," said Halime Cavus, math teacher. "Math is not just formula and calculations on paper and we want to showcase that in our family friendly games and activities."

Some of the activities include dot to dot puzzles and measuring height for younger students and math triangle and string art for the older students. There will also be math project presentations by current students.

"Our family fun night is about fun and building communities," said Meral Ayceick, math teacher. "We hope that our families will have fun and see how their children are learning math at the Science Academy of Chicago."
