Be part of the heartbeat of innovation and entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley, California, one of the most important and happening places in the world today. Recently the host to over a MILLION people for the 50th Anniversary of the Super Bowl, Silicon Valley is the global heart of innovation and start-up success. "The greatest creation of wealth and innovation in human history has happened within the state of California in the last 50 years. You can only understand how to be part of history in the making if you are here in person. However, being here isn't quite enough. You have to see it to believe it. When you are in California you can just feel the excitement. You need to meet the right people. As a Safari student you'll be inspired to act and to do something great for the world, for yourself," suggests cofounder, Mei Lin Fung, of Palo Alto, California. The first week begins in Silicon Valley, where California Safari students will spend time and get inspired by two of the top professors at Stanford University and University of California Berkeley. The second week, students will travel to Hollywood for education while on the adventure of a lifetime and a chance to shine on the red carpet. Each student will also be assigned a personal Safari Guide who will become a mentor for life. The California Safari faculty are some of the best in the world. Tom Kosnik, lecturer for California Safari, and professor at Stanford University, has been a denizen of Silicon Valley since 1980. In the last 35 years, he has seen many amazing creative visionaries, innovators, and entrepreneurs enter Silicon Valley. Explains Kosnik, "We are delighted to be part of the team that is putting on California Safari! Silicon Valley has had more than its fair share of innovation. Stanford University and the University of California at Berkeley both deserve a lot of credit for being spawning grounds for new technologies, new ventures, and new business models with a long tradition of entrepreneurship. Leland Stanford was a very successful entrepreneur who became one of the richest men of his generation. He earned his first fortune in the Gold Rush of 1949. His second fortune came from being one of the four cofounders of the Western part of the transcontinental railroad. Leland Stanford and his wife Jane cofounded Stanford University in 1885 and it is now the birthplace of many entrepreneurial ventures, among them: in Medical technology Genentech, Intuitive Surgical, Kaiser Permanente, and in IT: Hewlett-Packard, Intel, AMD, National Semiconductor, Oracle, Apple, Cisco, Yahoo, Google, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Instagram," proudly states Kosnik. California Safari cofounder Denise O'Brien, award-winning entrepreneur, international keynote speaker, author, and global humanitarian was inspired to start California Safari to encourage students to think globally at a young age. "I have been an entrepreneur since fifth grade; I had multiple paper routes and I also had a bookkeeping service for local businesses and nonprofits. I worked very hard all through high school and college to pay for my own private school education, and I am grateful for the many mentors I learned from along my journey. Having educated professionals share their startup success and advice with me during while achieving each small triumph made me the woman I am today, and I want to be able to give that education and experience back to young entrepreneurs with similar drive and vision. As the mother of a son and a daugther attending college in California right now, both of whom want to start their own businesses when they graduate, I am very inspired to educate students on innovation and entrepreneurship through our California Safari adventure," explains O'Brien. The greater Los Angeles area is home to many innovative hubs, including: the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), University of Southern California (USC), Cal Tech, California Science Center, Hollywood, Universal Studios, Warner Bros., Paramount Studios, SONY Pictures, and one of the most famous global entrepreneurial companies of all-time, Disney, and the dream of founder Walt Disney: Disneyland. "I grew up in Silicon Valley and moved 360 miles down to Los Angeles to attend college and study broadcasting. I am excited to have the opportunity to share with young global entrepreneurs the secrets to success in both Silicon Valley and the glamourous and famous Hollywood regions of Southern California. Whether you intend to change the world, or you are simply curious about the people and organizations that have profoundly changed it already, California Safari is a dream trip come true for everyone. Bring your friends, families, and potential cofounders of your own startups to the place where it all happens: California Safari. We can't wait to have you with us this summer," invites O'Brien.
