Topping the list is Pensacola in Florida, particularly the Emerald Coast Water Utility. According to Daily Finance, this location accounts for having the worst water quality in the entire U.S. The article said there are some 21 chemicals found in this water system that are harmful for the health, such as radium, benzene and lead. Following Pensacola with bad sources of water is Riverside, California. Despite the high population in the area, 30 chemicals were found in the water that cause harm to the human body, such as uranium and traces of bromoform, a variation of a methane chemical.

You will never believe that the Las Vegas Water District that takes its water source reportedly from Colorado River had 30 harmful chemicals found, with some 12 of them in levels that are exceeding allowable guidelines by authorities, Daily Finance said. Despite the location of this developed area, some chemicals such as uranium were found in the water supply.

The second California area on the list takes the fourth spot as one of the places that has the worst water supply. The Riverside County which is located north of San Diego is taking its supply from the Bay Delta because of its desert-type geography. There were 13 chemicals that went over the guidelines of water supply authorities. The fifth area on the list is Reno which water system reportedly has chemicals such as arsenic, manganese and tetrachloroethylene, all of which are harmful when taken in by humans. A water authority in Reno has disputed this report, according to Daily Finance.

Rounding the other cities that were flagged as areas with the worst water supplies in the U.S. are Houston, Omaha, North Las Vegas, San Diego and Jacksonville.
