US trade in goods with Australia in 2017: exports, imports

April 18, 2018 - PRLog -- In 2017, US trade with Australia totaled $34.8 billion, up 9.33% ($3.0 billion) from 2016.

US exports to Australia in 2017 totaled $24.6 billion, up 10.73% ($2.4 billion) from 2016.

US imports from Australia in 2017 totaled $10.2 billion, up 6.07% ($0.6 billion) from 2016.

US trade surplus with Australia in 2017 was $14.4 billion, a 14.27% increase ($1.8 billion) over 2016.

Australia was the US 24th largest trading partner in 2017 (just as in 2016), accounting for 0.8791% of US total trade (up from 0.8588% in 2016).

Australia was the US 16th largest export market in 2017 (up from 17th in 2016), accounting for 1.5910% of US total exports (up from 1.5286% in 2016).

Australia was the US 33rd largest supplier in 2017 (down from 31st in 2016), accounting for 0.4222% of US total imports (down from 0.4261% in 2016).

The major share of US exports to Australia in 2017 (and in 2016) was accounted for the following product types:
• Machinery, equipment and vehicles (HS codes 84-90) - 58.73% of US total exports to Australia (58.12% in 2016);
• Chemical products (HS codes 28-40) - 16.82% of US total exports to Australia (16.43% in 2016);
• Food products and agricultural raw materials (HS codes 01-24) - 6.35% of US total exports to Australia (6.41% in 2016);
• Mineral products (HS codes 25-27) - 2.64% of US total exports to Australia (1.62% in 2016);
• Metals and products from them (HS codes 72-83) - 2.35% of US total exports to Australia (2.29% in 2016);
• Wood and wood products (HS codes 44-49) - 1.67% of US total exports to Australia (1.85% in 2016);
• Precious metals and stones (HS code 71) - 1.36% of US total exports to Australia (2.08% in 2016);
• Textiles, textile products and footwear (HS codes 50-67) - 1.23% of US total exports to Australia (1.31% in 2016).
