Another Clean Sheet for WNFC Coyotes

CARSON CITY, Nev. - May 8, 2018 - PRLog -- The Western Nevada FC Coyotes continued their winning streak Saturday night. WNFC's fast and furious football was too much for Dynamos FC as the Coyotes cruised to a 4-0 win. The first half really displayed the hunger the team came out with Saturday to earn the 3 points. Nick Tunic struck early in the 5th minute of the match to give the Coyotes a 1-0 lead. WNFC did not stop there, Kieran Toland was able to find himself on the end of a pass to add his name in the score sheet in the 23rd minute giving Western Nevada FC a 2-0 lead. The Coyotes continued to push hard and broke through in the 35th minute extending the lead to 3-0 courtesy of Anibal Echeverria. Early in the second half, Coyotes defender Mitchell Brickman was red carded in the 66th minute. The 10-man Coyotes stood strong and even found a game sealing goal in the 81st minute where Anibal Echeverria added a second goal to his name on the evening. The win keeps WNFC Coyotes in first place of the Wild West Conference with a record of 7 wins and 1 draw for a total of 22 points.

GM and Head Coach, Ian Hill, saw a lot of character and grit from his team Saturday night when they were faced with adversity. Hill had this to say following the team's 4-0 win: "It was a good road win for us, and I am happy with our performance. We had set objectives in the game including having 30 shots on goal, 15 on frame and 5 goals for the day. We ended with 25 shots on goal, 13 on frame and 4 goals, so I am pleased. When we went down to 10 men, we worked through the challenge and even extended our lead. That is the mark of a quality team!"

Emmanuel Medina was all over Saturday night and was a huge reason for the clean sheet that the 10 man Coyotes earned. Medina said this: "Saturday was a positive in both the result and as an organization. Coach gave us the challenge of problem solving on the field, we got a red card and still managed to score another goal. We left the field with an aura of joy, we enjoyed the win as a team, we enjoyed that we played well. Still we continue to improve and look at how we can be better from Saturday."

Nick Tunic who got the scoring started Saturday evening in California talked with us a bit after the match: "It was a massive win for the whole organization. As a team, we're just taking it day by day and enjoying the ride. We had a point to prove after the #1 national ranking and I think we did that. As a group, we've talked about overcoming adversity and problem solving and that was on full display this past weekend when we had to play a portion of the game with 10 men. We rallied well and ultimately left with 3 points and at the end of the day, that's all that matters. We're working harder than ever, and it's showing in the games. We've always said that we're the best, and that's great and all, but now others are saying it too so we've gained respect and that's important. But we're not getting ahead of ourselves. We know that being #1 at this point in the season isn't the most important thing. We have bigger goals of hoisting the national championship trophy. It's been a total team effort this whole year so far and it will continue to be that way. From the players putting in the work physically, to the coaching staff preparing us and challenging us each and every day at training. We just have to keep going, and I know we will."

Western Nevada FC currently stands alone at the top of the Wild West Conference and look to stay there this coming weekend with a match against Real San Jose. Stay up to date with all the exciting news surround the Coyotes on our social media platforms and at https://westernnevadafc.com.
