CARRHURE successfully filled the Global Head of Breeding, ICRISAT

PARIS - June 6, 2018 - PRLog -- ICRISAT appointed Dr. Jan Debaene as Global Head of Breeding.

Carrhure was retained by ICRISAT (International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics) (http://www.icrisat.org/) to fill 3 key positions for the organization: Corporate Services Director, Human Resources Director (still ongoing) and Global Head of Breeding. After a few weeks of active search, Dr. Debaene was the chosen candidate for the Global Head of Breeding role.

Under the supervision of Ms. Aurée de Carbon, CARRHURE's Managing Director, the team was able to find the most viable candidate with an in-depth understanding of practical breeding applications and logistical constraints as well as an excellent understanding of new and established tools that pragmatically support modern breeding applications and capacity development approaches.

Jan Debaene is an accomplished research scientist with an extensive expertise in the use of analytical tools, plant breeding, and genetics for the ag-biotech and specialty seed industries. He has a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Plant Genetics from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and has over 15 years of commercial breeding experience. He is acclaimed for his strong analytical skills and solid foundation in data management, statistics, and molecular marker applications. He is also reputable for his broad knowledge of various crops, molecular characterization, promotion of data-driven decision-making tools and program management. He is described as a natural team leader who is extremely dedicated and manages with utmost integrity and respect. With his new role as the Head of Global Breeding, he is highly motivated to deliver improved varieties to improve growers' living and consumers' lives worldwide.
