NC State Poole College Announces Gift from VF Foundation to Support Diversity & Inclusion Efforts

RALEIGH, N.C. - July 2, 2018 - PRLog -- The NC State University Poole College of Management today announced a financial gift from the VF Foundation, in support of the college's diversity and inclusion programs.

This gift, which builds on the strategic partnership between NC State University and VF that was announced earlier this year, provides support for underrepresented and minority students to participate in the wide spectrum of experiential learning opportunities available to Poole College students as they prepare to launch their careers.

"Poole College and the university as a whole offer tremendous opportunities for students to learn beyond the classroom – such as study abroad, Alternative Spring Break, conferences and workshops. However, not all students have the financial resources to participate," said Tayah Butler, director of diversity and inclusion in the college's Office of Undergraduate Programs.

"This gift from the VF Foundation removes significant roadblocks, making such opportunities possible for all of our students," she said. "This isn't so much about diversity as it is about equity – providing opportunities for those who would not otherwise be able to participate and making those opportunities accessible for those in marginalized communities."

In collaboration with the Poole College of Management and the College of Textiles, the VF partnership offers a variety of undergraduate and graduate education and training activities for students within the colleges, including internships, student projects and competitions; facilitation of industry-leading research; executive education opportunities; and collaboration and research space on NC State's Centennial Campus.
