PRLog -- Many reputable online statistics websites, including U.S. GALLUP poles, based on two surveys, shows that church attendance was at 71% from 1985 to 1987. This dropped sharply down to 50% by year 2018. That 21% drop, represents many millions of people. The drop has gone down even more, now between 2019 to 2020. Are these simply lazy people, who had rather skip church simply to indulge in leisure pursuits? Not in most cases, because two hours of worship in a sanctuary (Sunday School and regular Church Service), plus approximately an hour for the evening service, leaves ample time between, for rest and leisure (being any relaxing and stress lowering activity). Jesus stated this in regard to the Sabbath day: Mark 2:27 - "The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for the Sabbath." Some Christians literally develop a worship for the day of rest, rather than for the God who created it as a blessing for mankind. He does desire it to also be a time of fellowship between fellow Christians and worship toward their Creator, plus praise and hearing God's Holy Word, preached and taught. The drop in church attendance has become more about disconcerting things that occur in many churches (Satan attacks worship of God), than in unfaithful congregates, who are missing-out on assembling together with others who are in the body of Christ (the saved, born again, believers in Jesus Christ). There are severely flawed pastors, fellow church members at serious odds against each other and splits in churches. Some become separate groups over differences in Biblical Doctrines.
