SAN DIEGO - May 15, 2020 - PRLog -- CPL gets calls for all types of detection services. From broken water pipes to finding buried cable lines. But, on Monday May 11th they got a real emergency call. A dog had been lost in the storm drain for a week. That's when local Pet Detective, Babs Fry, called and asked CPL to help locate the lost dog that was trapped in a storm drain near 33rd street in the Altadena neighborhood. Of course, CPL was happy to help. Everyone imagined that the curious pooch was in serious distress. A week in the storm drains of San Diego would be tough for any critter. That's when Technician Morgan Hamilton, with help from Technician Chris McMurray, sprang into action. They mapped out the area and realized the poor pup didn't have a way out. So they brought out the remote sewer pipe tractor and started looking. This detection device has a camera and is small enough to fit into tight places. It is remotely controlled from a video monitoring station set up in the CPL company van. While hound hunting, the camera came across rats, spiders and other assorted trash. It was not a good place for a family dog to be. After a week in the pipes, they didn't know what to expect.

When they finally saw her she was filthy, hungry and probably exhausted from trying to find a way out, food, water and just to keep alive without getting bitten by anything down there. With the remote crawlers help, they were able to nudge her to a storm drain opening and get her out. Even after her ordeal, she still came out tail wagging. It's almost as if she knew CPL was there to rescue her. You can see from the photos, she has recovered quite well. Of course after the harrowing ordeal the dog was named "Stormy".

While CPL is not often called to rescue a life, they frequently save homes and businesses suffering from hard to detect leaks. If you have a leak problem, CPL can help and will treat it with as much care and concern as they did for Stormy and make sure that there's a happy ending. You can watch the whole story on Channel 8 at 5pm on Monday, May 18th and it will be replayed on the CW channel later that night.

Oh, by the way, CPL did the entire dog rescue at NO CHARGE!
