Follow on Google News | Casting for CDI's WWII Drama Continues by Adding Two Solid ActorsBeyond basic character breakdowns, everything else centers on demo reels, in-person or video auditions and vetting to determine who has the most potential for bringing the character to life. Plus, prior work (if any) in a CDI film figures into the casting equation. With the addition of Garry Nation and David Michael Reardon to the cast of its WWII drama set on the home front - 'Silent Night In Algona' - CDI gets two tried and true artists with great range. Mr. Nation, an Oklahoma native who resides in Texas, is an award-winning actor and will play the role of the Algona (Iowa) mayor, 'Frank Hewitt.' A WWI veteran, Hewitt tries to find balance between friendships and local 'politics and personalities' opposed to a German POW camp built in the town's midst. Mr. Reardon, also a native 'Sooner' who resides in Branson, Missouri, plays the role of 'Pastor Carl Herman.' The 'passive aggressive pastor,' more of a store-front 'prophet-eer,' presents himself in shades of gray. A man with ulterior motives. Both Mr. Nation and Mr. Reardon had main roles in CDI's award-winning, 'Man's Best Friend. Mr. Reardon played 'Charlie Sawyer' in MBF, the high school star athlete who commits an unspeakable crime, but who pays a heavy price. Mr. Nation played lead prosecutor 'Ed Hammins.' 'Silent Night In Algona' director Anthony Hornus, who directed both actors in MBF, enthused "Garry and David are solid. Professionals who always bring their best and who aren't afraid to ask questions or offer ideas in the interest of the character and story. I like that interaction." The multi-talented Mr. Nation - an ordained minister, musician, speaker, educator, writer and Ph.D. - will be making his third appearance in a CDI film. His turn as 'Melchior' in 'Chasing the Star' (the middle installment in CDI's 'Quest Trilogy') came on the heels of his 'Best Actor' honors for 'Polycarp.' Mr. Nation's range has afforded him various roles in his career. From Gen. Robert E. Lee in 'Legends & Lies' and a scientist in 'The Challenger Disaster,' to the comedy, 'My Grandpa the Detective.' For Mr. Reardon, 23, MBF was his breakout film role. "David was obviously our top choice for Charlie Sawyer in MBF," explained Mr. Hornus. He added, "Nonetheless, we made David audition for Pastor Herman. We weren't sure at his tender age if he could pull it off. His audition blew us away. We combined that knowing the chemistry he'll bring opposite Curran Jacobs ('Rudy Tietz') and Cassie Dean ('Clara Tietz'). 'Silent Night In Algona,' will film in Kossuth County, Iowa. www.cdiproductions.com End
