LONDON - Aug. 21, 2021 - PRLog -- Parvati Foundation acknowledges with deep sadness the passing of Lawrence Bloom, friend and advisor to the Marine Arctic Peace Sanctuary (MAPS), due to COVID-19.

Lawrence was an internationally acclaimed executive, speaker and activist who co-founded the Be Earth Foundation, a UN Inter-Governmental Organization helping to advance the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. He was appointed the first Chairman of the World Economic Forum and the Global Agenda Council on Urban Management and was an alumnus of all Agenda Councils. Lawrence was also the former Chairman of the UN Environmental Programme, Green Economy Initiative, Green Cities, Buildings and Transport Council, as well as a member of the Executive Board, InterContinental Hotels Group. Lawrence was recently voted by SALT magazine as among the Top 25 Most Conscious Global Leaders, and in 2016 received an award at the UN from the Humanitarian Innovation Forum for Conscious Leadership.

When Lawrence learned about MAPS in 2018, he immediately joined Parvati Foundation's international all-volunteer team to support its work to transforms the entire Arctic Ocean above the Arctic Circle into the largest marine preserve in history. Lawrence understood that MAPS is a 360º initiative to awaken interconnection around the world to preserve all life. He was passionate about bringing people from all nations together to affirm that the Arctic Ocean must be protected from exploitation and militarization for everyone's sake. Lawrence's role within Parvati Foundation was to advocate for MAPS within the governmental sphere, as well as to provide valuable counsel on strategic direction.

"Everyone at Parvati Foundation is deeply saddened with the passing of our colleague and friend Lawrence Bloom," says Parvati, Founder and CEO of Parvati Foundation and visionary for MAPS. "With exceptional insight, heart and understanding, Lawrence was a valued advisor to Parvati Foundation and MAPS advocate. His UN experience, his clear understanding of the need for immediate global change, and his luminous spirit made his Be Earth Foundation a strong and natural ally."

Following Lawrence's example of a life lived in service, let us do everything in our power to unite humanity to protect all life through MAPS. At this pivotal time for our world, Parvati Foundation implores nation leaders to immediately sign the MAPS Treaty. For more information, go to https://parvati.org.
