Others know Curran from his wrestling and MMA background, where he once held the Catch Wrestling World Champion belt. He injured himself during a title defense and had the belt taken by Quentin Rosenzweig. Recently John Combs defeated Quentin Rosenzweig for the Unified Catch Wrestling World Championship title. John Combs is a professional grappler and black belt under Amal Easton. Combs is an ADCC West Coast Trials winner and IBJJF American No-Gi Nationals champion. He is known for his signature guillotine attack, nicknamed "the Combatine". He competes in the middleweight division (181.6lbs). Jacobs is looking to retake the championship belt against Combs on Saturday, May 21st in Palmetto, Florida at North River Jiu Jitsu. In a combination of both passions, Curran Jacobs, directed "FOR THE LOVE OF CATCH," an entertaining and informative documentary film on the art of Catch-Can. Led by wrestling historian Mike Chapman, the film showcases a broad spectrum of the greatest grapplers (Randy Couture, Josh Barnett, Dan Gable, Dan Severn and more) professing their love of the art and helping to fill the gaps in the sport's long and legendary history. Produced by the non-profit The Red, White & Blue Project Inc. in association with Collective Development Inc. the film has been signed to a worldwide release deal with Deskpop Entertainment.
