Follow on Google News | Wales Chef Bryan Webb Hangs up his Whites and Sells UpBy: Tyddyn Llan Tyddyn Llan Restaurant with Rooms in the village of Llandrillo in north Wales, has been put up for sale by owners Bryan and Susan Webb, 20 years after purchasing the property in 2002. Comments co-owner and head chef Bryan Webb: "When we left Hilaire in London's Kensington back in 2002, we knew that we were taking on a huge challenge, but we have really enjoyed our time here and have made many friends and have lots of loyal, regular diners. "But we aren't getting any younger and anyone who has worked in a restaurant knows how much hard work is involved and the long hours, though I will miss the reward of people saying how much they enjoy my cooking." In 2010, Bryan was awarded a Michelin star for his food and, more recently, he received a visit from James Martin for the Islands to Highlands TV series, with Martin describing Bryan's Lava Bread Beurre Blanc sauce as one of the best three sauces he has ever tasted. The small, 13-room boutique hotel was built in 1742, 45 years before William Bligh and Fletcher Christian set sail on the ill-fated voyage on HMS Bounty to Tahiti. More recently, the property was the private shooting lodge of the Duke of Westminster and, to this day, Bryan and Susan regularly welcome shooting parties during the grouse season. Tyddyn Llan is located at the foot of the Berwyn Mountains making it ideal for walking breaks. The hotel has created six guides, with easy, moderate, and strenuous walks to choose from. For the more adventurous, transport can be arranged to Pistyll Rhaeadr waterfalls, from where you can make the eight-mile hike over the top of the Berwyn Mountain back to Tyddyn Llan. There is plenty to see and do in the area, including Bala Lake, rides on the Llanuwchllyn steam railway, the World Heritage site of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, and the historical market town of Ruthin. For the more adventurous there is the world-famous zip wire and Zip World Mountain coaster and white-water rafting in Bala. The hotel is listed with Hart and Co Residential with a price tag of £1.8m.
