By: The Presbyterian Home at Charlotte "We have made a conscious effort to focus on a culture of vitality and well-being and become a part of the fabric of the greater SouthPark community," said Angela Rigsbee, president and CEO of The Sharon at SouthPark. "As many of our residents and constituents have told us, 'We are much more than 'towers.' We are excited for this change as we keep faith with our past and transform it into The Sharon at SouthPark." The Sharon at SouthPark off Sharon Road is home to 375 residents in Independent Living, Assisted Living and Health Care. The Sharon at SouthPark launched a long-term redevelopment of its 28-acre campus off Sharon Road in 2017 that demanded a name reflective of the growth and change. The Deerwood and Magnolia Villas feature 78 Independent Living apartments in three separate buildings on campus. Cottages offering single-family style homes have been renovated. Connecting with the neighboring community was the inspiration behind the recently opened Anne O. Moffat Park. The half-acre natural space at Sharon Road and Hazelton Drive features a fountain and benches from which to enjoy it and is meant to serve as a refuge from the surrounding busy-ness. The SouthPark Association of Neighborhoods (SPAN) secured a grant for a mural to brighten the park setting. Moffat was president and CEO of The Sharon at SouthPark for 18 years. "The park is a lovely symbol of life at The Sharon at SouthPark," Rigsbee said. "Our residents enjoy living in one of Charlotte's most vibrant communities. Our new name signals our eagerness to be a good neighbor." To coincide with the new name, a new website debuted today (Oct. 2) – https://thesharon.org. It offers an easy-to-navigate look at life at the Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). The old website address – www.sharontowers.org – takes you to the new one. New signage on campus marks the new name. About The Sharon at SouthPark: Founded in 1969, The Sharon at SouthPark is home to 375 residents ages 60 and over. Affiliated with Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the LifePlan community (also known as a Continuing Care Retirement Community) was formally known as Sharon Towers. End
