BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - Jan. 9, 2024 - PRLog -- Today Veteran and Republican Congressional candidate Joe Earley (R-WV2), called on President Joe Biden to fire Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin for dereliction of duty.
"Having served our nation for decades in the United States Army, I am beyond offended that the Secretary of Defense felt that he did not need to notify anyone about being in the hospital. I don't fault him for having health problems. I hold him accountable for putting our national security at risk by not informing the White House or the Pentagon that he was not doing his job. President Biden must fire Austin," said Earley. "If I did not show up for my duty while serving, I would have been court martialed and thrown out of the Army. The same should be applied to the Secretary of Defense," said Earley. Earley believes that Austin has been a poor choice for Secretary of Defense. He faults him with the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan where 13 service members lost their lives and American credibility on the international stage was destroyed. "Our men and women who put their lives on the line protecting our nation need to know that someone is in charge at the Pentagon. They need faith in the orders they are given. Secretary Austin has completely undermined the trust our service men and women have in the system. He needs to go," said Earley. "With his failed Afghanistan withdrawal and now being MIA, no more evidence is needed in his dismissal and I support Congressman Rosendale's efforts in pursuing an impeachment resolution against the Defense Secretary."
