MIDLAND, Texas - Feb. 28, 2025 - PRLog -- A new political action committee, Midland College Works, has been formed to rally support for a crucial investment in Midland's workforce. The Perryman Group projects the Permian Basin will need 218,300 new workers over the next 30 years, Midland Works is dedicated to ensuring those jobs go to local students and workers—not outsiders.

The Midland College bond proposal, which will be on the ballot May 3, 2025, is a critical investment in workforce training and education. If approved, it will fund the construction of the Applied Technology Complex, allowing Midland College to train 35,000 workers over the next decade and expand programs in oil and gas, skilled trades, healthcare, and advanced manufacturing.

Why this matters
Midland College is bursting at the seams. Right now, students are being turned away because there's no space to train them for high-demand careers. Without this bond, our local workforce pipeline will remain bottlenecked, forcing businesses to hire from outside Midland.

Midland is running out of skilled workers. Our industries are growing, but Midland College is at full capacity, turning away students who want to train for high-demand careers.

Without investment, jobs will go to outsiders. If we don't train our own workforce, companies will be forced to import workers, sending high-paying opportunities elsewhere.

This bond is a small investment with a big return. For about $21 per month per household, Midland secures local jobs, higher wages, and a stronger economy.

What the Bond Will Fund
1,600 additional students trained on Day One
35,000 skilled workers trained over 10 years
The Applied Technology Complex—a state-of-the-art facility for oil & gas, skilled trades, healthcare, and many others
Expanded healthcare programs to meet growing demand
Upgraded student services and campus facilities to modernize workforce training
