Action for our Planet launches joint anti-fur campaign

Online based organisation, Action for our Planet (AFOP) has launched a joint anti-fur campaign to urge luxury fashion company Louis Vuitton to go fur-free.

Feb. 13, 2011 - PRLog -- AFOP has teamed up with the Animal Rights Action Network Ireland (ARAN), Vegan Peace, Our Compass, Dieren Belangen, Two Happy Vegans and the International Anti-Fur Coalition (IAFC) to petition Louis Vuitton’s shareholders by asking them to use their influence to say no to fur. The fashion houses parent company, Moet Hennessey Louis Vuitton (LVMH) is renowned for luxury but also infamous for it’s use of fur across it’s wide range of subsidiary companies which include; Donna Karan, Pucci and Fendi.

Prior to the launch of the campaign, Action for our Planet’s supporters sent over 400 emails to Louis Vuitton urging them to use faux fur and follow the likes of Chanel‘s creative director, Karl Lagerfeld  who said in 2010 ‘‘fake fur changed so much and became so great now that you can hardly see the difference’’. By coordinating a petition campaign with other animal advocacy organisations, AFOP hopes that shareholders will receive thousands of emails and will feel obliged to represent the views of consumers-  that fur is cruel and has no place in fashion.

Action for our Planet’s founder Oli Dillon Squire, states ‘‘Louis Vuitton have failed to listen to the demands of animal loving consumers in the past, but the companies shareholders now have the chance to make Louis Vuittton an ethical leader in luxury’’. .
