July 27, 2011 - PRLog -- NC State University Poole College of Management’s Business Collaboratories - http://execed.mgt.ncsu.edu/ - will present its Innovation Management Executive Series on Managing Disruptive Innovation in two three-day sessions in Raleigh, N.C., this fall. The sessions will be held September 28 through Sept. 30, and October 12 through 14, 2011.

Managing Disruptive Innovation (MDI) is an intense, highly interactive  executive program that provides company leaders not only the tools and knowledge to create tailored solutions to their organizations’ most pressing problems, but also a chance to start working on those solutions as part of the program.

Led by innovation management experts, participants work collaboratively in hands-on exercises, learning how to recognize disruptive market signals and understanding how those signals may lead to business model transformation . The goal is to provide participants the knowledge and skills needed to effect business model transformation and impact top-line growth.

This Executive Series program “is exactly in line with what companies need to be ‘in tune’ with,” said  Brian Ridout, senior manager of manufacturing at Biogen Idec and a 2010 program participant. “Change is something everyone sees, but no one knows the best way to handle. The (MDI) Executive Series brings leaders from various industries and roles into an environment where ideas and perspectives can be shared,” added Richard Pearce, vice president of research and development at Smith & Nephew, who also had participated in the program in 2010.

The MDI series is based on research-proven tools and capabilities created by NC State Poole College’s Center for Innovation Management Studies (CIMS) - cims.ncsu.edu - in partnership with Poole College faculty.

The five-day “collaboratory” — so named because it is involves the collaboration of business and academia around research-driven practices — is delivered in the following two modules.

Module 1, Responding to Market Signals and Converting Market Signals to Change Imperatives, will be held September 28-30, 2011.

Module 2, Componentizing Your Business Model and Seeking Partners, will be held October 12-14.

“This is not just another management workshop you can cross off your to-do list,” said Lee Clark-Sellers, program director for the Innovation Management Executive Series. “You’ll leave here with a blueprint for creating positive change, including a process for converting trends into business opportunities and designing a business model that will differentiate you from the competition. Plus you’ll be inspired by sharing with peers in other industries who face the same challenges you do.”

In addition to Biogen Idec and Smith & Nephew, executives from the following companies have attended previous MDI programs: MeadWestVaco Healthcare, Esai Inc., Novozymes, IBM, and BASF.

The MDI Executive Series can also be customized to meet a company’s specific needs. For more information about the fall series or about creating a custom program, contact Lee Clark-Sellers at 919.637.2109 or klclarks@ncsu.edu or visit execseries.mgt.ncu.edu.
