Warm Winter’s Wrath: Snow Shortage Lingers

Snow continues its stubborn refusal to fall this winter, with slopes remaining dry from the Sierras to the Adirondacks. But never fear - until a winter wonderland arrives, you can enjoy the dozens of crisp photographs in "Here Comes the Snow."

Jan. 9, 2012 - PRLog -- Winter sports enthusiasts everywhere are struggling with the shortage of snow this season, from Lake Tahoe, CA, to Vail, CO, and from upstate NY all the way to the Swiss Alps. Most slopes are still closed at many of the biggest resorts, and school children everywhere anxiously await word of the year’s first snow day. But people have not yet given up hope; in previous years, an unseasonably warm December has led to a serious dousing of snow in January, as in 1998 when Western New York had 70 inches dumped on it after the last similarly snowless December.

Whether your region is due for excessive snow fall this winter or not, it’s likely you’ll see more of that white gold in the New Year than the paltry sprinkling experienced in December and November. When it comes, it’s best to be ready. There’s no better way to prepare than “Here Comes the Snow” by Rosemarie Jarksi, a collection of inspiring snowy photographs paired with wintry quotes capturing all the joys of winter (http://www.redrockpress.com/celebration.html).

Several years ago, before the traditional camera was eclipsed by the digital camera, a survey of supermarkets was conducted to find out which items sold best on snowy days. The most popular panic-buys included milk, bread, snack foods, toilet paper, and kitty litter (to sand icy paths), but at the top of the list was film for cameras. It seems that when it snows, what we want more than anything is to record it.

What is it about snow that makes it so precious, so treasured? In “Here Comes the Snow” by Rosemarie Jarksi, you’ll find the answer. Enjoy all the delights of the frosty season, from snowmen to snow-angels and skating to sleigh rides with this wonderful book. To celebrate the snow we’re expecting to fall, “Here Comes the Snow” and its amazing four dozen black and white photographs are available at the special price of just $6.99 (normally $9.95). With quotes, stories, poems, and personal musings, all of the glory of a white winter unfolds in this charming salute to snow.
