The contest is open to Texas and UK companies doing transatlantic business. Deadline for entries is July 2, 2012.
Since the first British Consul General, Sir Charles Elliot R.N., was sent to the Republic of Texas in 1842 by the Earl of Aberdeen, the UK/Texas relationship has remained strong. One hundred and seventy years later, the UK is the largest foreign direct investor in the Texas economy with $20 billion in investment by UK companies. This investment provides 70,000 jobs in the State making the UK the largest foreign employer as well. There is $9 billion in trade between the UK and Texas. The BABC International Business Awards programme is looking for UK and Texas companies excelling in this transatlantic commerce. Any Texas or UK based company doing business here and in the UK is eligible. BABC membership is not required to enter. This is an opportunity for companies to shout about their successes, to stand amongst other like minded businesses and receive the recognition they deserve, letting customers, employees and competitors know that they are a truly outstanding business. This is also an opportunity to put the spotlight on clients or vendors. Companies who are entered by someone else often find out who put them forward. Clients and vendors appreciate interest in their success and interest in the growth of their businesses. Applications are due by 2 July, 2012. Three finalists in each of three categories will be announced in August with the winners announced at the Awards Luncheon in October. More information and applications can be found at www.BABCHouston.org or by calling 832.351.3940.
