Follow on Google News | Gomez Seeks Succes At The Bullring in NASCAR K&N Pro Series ActionJonathon Gomez, driver of the #22 Century Boatland/LivingGomez in K&N Car Like a Pirate Chevrolet in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, returns to The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway this weekend for the running of the Star Nursery "200".
By: Derrick Shannon While Gomez has only one career NKNPS start at The Bullring, he has scored four top three finishes in the SPEARS SRL Southwest Tour on the fast paved banked oval including a runner-up finish earlier this month. The Bullring challenges the teams both physically and mentally as the heat of the day can consume you and leave you scratching your head for how to tune the car. With the race being run later at night the practice laps during the day do not really do much for race set up. "I know we can have the same kind of success in the West as we have had in the SRL," Gomez offered. "Craig and the team have really put a lot of work into our program and we continue to get better and better each time out." Gomez is coming off consecutive top ten performances scoring a third place finish in Iowa two weeks ago and a 7th place effort at Brainerd this past Saturday to move into seventh place in the standings just 38-points out of fifth place. "The way the season started I did not think we could get back in this thing but we are slowly closing the gap," Gomez stated. "We just need solid runs each race and have the guys up front just slip a little and we could be right back in this thing." Gomez headshotGomez has made 33 career starts in the NKNPS after making his series debut at Douglas County Speedway in Roseburg, OR on July 11, 2008. In his 33 career starts he has six top five and 15 top ten performances. He has a career best finish of second place twice (Iowa & Phoenix). In his last series race at The Bullring he finished 25th last season. Gomez Motorsports is owned by John Gomez, a successful farmer and businessman based in Idaho. The team is lead by crew chief Craig Raudman and supported by Ron Copeland, Blaine Bergem, Derek Copeland, Kyle Cattanach, Adam Wyse, and Mike Mulder.
