OTTER’s Text and Drive Solution compatible with Ford SYNC equipped vehicles

Jan. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- SEATTLE, WA -- Today OTTER LLC announced that it has tested its existing OTTER app on a smartphone docked with Ford’s on-board SYNC system and the software worked seamlessly.  “This is our existing Android product that can put Ford driver’s eyes back on the road while their texts are being answered,” explains Erik Wood, Founder and CEO of OTTER LLC.  

The OTTER app, available on any Android phone, was tested on a Ford F350 and a Ford Expedition. New text notifications were silenced on the smartphone and no audio played over the system speakers while a text auto reply stating “The OTTER user is driving” replied to the incoming text.  The OTTER app allows the user to hear a phone call if they are using a Bluetooth device but it silences texting and other social alerts like Twitter or Facebook when vehicle speed is detected.

“This is exciting news for us as we believe that our current and future products using GPS and messaging will have immediate compatibility with the Ford SYNC platform. That means we can expect faster adoption rates and immediate safety results for drivers”, says OTTER Co-Owner, Troy Niehaus.  “This also makes us bullish about our compatibility with any of the new vehicle on-board systems regardless of the maker,” adds Niehaus.

Ford, SYNC, F350 and Expedition are all Registered Trademarks of the Ford Motor Company or its affiliates.  OTTER LLC is entirely independent of Ford and is not approved by, endorsed by, sponsored by, affiliated with, or otherwise authorized by Ford or any of its affiliates.  Ford did not in any way participate in the testing of the OTTER app and its compatibility with SYNC.
