OTTER LLC starts petition to bring Text and Drive software to the iPhone

BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. - Sept. 13, 2013 - PRLog -- OTTER LLC announced today that it is directing a petition at Apple CEO, Tim Cook, to bring Text and Drive software to the iPhone.  There is currently no speed-activated, texting auto-reply software available to iPhone users which make them much more susceptible to distracted driving.  “We have heard from thousands of iPhone users who want our Text and Drive software on their phones.  We felt like this petition would be a good opportunity to for Apple customers to take their message directly to Apple”, explains Erik Wood, Founder and CEO of OTTER LLC.    Text and Drive is now the No. 1 killer of teens in the US – more lethal than drunk driving.  Almost half of smartphones in the US are made by Apple which translates into millions of drivers every day on the road that cannot choose to use safety software like the OTTER app.  The security around the iPhone operating system currently excludes any kind of automated Text and Drive software.  “We believe Apple can maintain the security its customers expect and deliver software that allows iPhone user to make safe choices on the highway,” says OTTER Co-Owner, Troy Niehaus.  “This goes beyond downloading an app. It should just be a built-in feature on all smartphones,” adds Niehaus.    Earlier this year multiple studies were released indicating that driving with Speech to Text software was equally dangerous as texting while driving.  This renders voice automated software, like Siri, an ineffective solution to this lethal combination.
