The 1.5L four-cylinder engine is coupled with an electric motor, and together they deliver up to 150 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque – more than enough power to give this sporty subcompact plenty of power for passing and merging. The standard six-speed manual transmission give drivers a dynamic, engaging driving experience that most other vehicles – hybrid or not – simply can’t match. Optional is a continuously variable transmission (or CVT), which will likely deliver more than 40 mpg on the highway.

The 2014 Honda CR-Z is a car with quite a few tricks up its sleeve. With the touch of a button, drivers can switch between Normal, Econ, and Sport modes, instantaneously adjusting the vehicle’s systems to provide optimal efficiency or performance. The CVT model features steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters for an even more thrilling driving experience. Just like last year’s model, the 2014 CR-Z will feature the popular Plus Sport System. Pressing the “S+” button gives a five-second acceleration boost – useful for passing, merging, or just having fun.
