By: Grove Dodge The event took place in Kawartha Lakes, Ontario and London, Ontario. Kawartha Lakes hosted the light-duty competition while London hosted the heavy-duty competition. In its seventh year, the Canadian Truck King Challenge used an expert panel of judges to put all truck entrants through stringent real-world truck tests. These tests were designed to highlight capability, consumption, and the features of each truck. Testing included 3,629 kg towing, 817 kg of heavy payload, and some off-roading driving. In the under $45,000 category, the new Ram 1500 EcoDiesel and the Ram 1500 equipped with the 5.7L Hemi V8 engine claimed first and second place. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel is the first light-duty full-size pickup truck to come outfitted with a standard diesel powertrain that puts out 240 hp and an impressive 420 lb-ft of torque. This engine is also biodiesel capable to produce less air pollutants and greenhouse gas emissions.
