Ford Motors Donates Ford Escape Hybrid to Cerritos College Automotive Technology Program

NORWALK, Calif. - Nov. 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Ford Motors donated a 2009 Ford Escape Hybrid to the Cerritos College Automotive Technology program. The vehicles will be part of Cerritos College’s Ford Motors training. Students will be able to work on the vehicle during the hands-on portion of the classes.

Cerritos College Automotive Technology Program offers certificates, degrees and special programs in automotive repair, collision repair, alternative fuels, smog training, advanced transportation technology and automotive management.

The Ford Automotive Student Service Educational Training (ASSET) is a two-year automotive program design to upgrade the technical competency and professionalism of the incoming dealership technician. The curriculum is designed by Ford and Cerritos College, and leads to an Associate Degree. The Ford Assest program prepares students for the workforce by providing classroom and hands-on instruction as well paid on-the-job training at a Ford, Lincoln, or Mercury dealership.

“The Asset program will incorporate this hybrid vehicle into all 6 automotive classes that our students are required to take over the 2 year period. The Escape has the hybrid technologies that technicians need to know and understand when repairing vehicles today, such as high voltage systems , regenerative braking, Atkinson engine cycle, navigation system, advance network systems with high speed CAN bus," said Cerritos College Automotive Instructor, Jon Bender. "Donations such as, the Hybrid from Ford Motor Company keep our ASSET program on the cutting edge for training new Technicians."

The Asset program is a 2 year AA degree program which started back in 1986 at Cerritos college. We are going on our 28th class starting in March 2014. It is also a Ford Certification  program where we train and certify entry level technicians for the dealerships. Students must complete online web courses and pass the  same tests that the Ford Motor Company training center teaches the full time techs at the Ford Dealerships.

The next Ford Asset program at Cerritos College starts March 24, 2014. The deadline to apply is February 24, 2014. To find out how to apply for the Ford Asset program, visit: http://cms.cerritos.edu/auto/asset.htm
