Championship Season Cookies for the Super Bowl

NEW YORK - Jan. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Eject  the muss of spilled dips and the fuss of chips ground into the carpet at this year's Super Bowl party.

Reach the goal, instead, with cookies.  Not any old cookies, but different and delectable cookies geared to grown-up taste buds and paired with particular beers.

"Unexpected" is a cookie created for sports fans by Kelly Cooper, author of Cookies for Grown-Ups.  Its unusual  mixture includes roasted red pepper, chocolate, hazelnut and paprika.  Cooper recommends pairing it with chocolate stout.   The cookie's "exhilarating flavor explosion" is sandwiched between two innocent-looking chocolate wafers, according to its engineer.  It's surprising and it's easy to make.

Another cookie of champions is "Mancookie"---a concoction of Slim Jim, dry-roasted sunflower kernels and lime, which goes with just about any beer  you opt to  serve ice-cold.  This is a cookie that spends no time on the sidelines;  its fans never fade.

Cooper's "Antipasto" cookies offers up  a smattering of an entire buffet in a couple of bites.  It contains dabs of provolone, cheddar, kalamata olive, peperoncini and salami. Its creator recommends washing  Antipasto down with a light beer although red wine is acceptable if you insist.

What?  She forgot the pasta?  Not really.  Cookies for Grown-Ups contains a recipes for an amazingly-yummy hors d'oeuvre cookie, called  "Fettuccini," which Kelly Cooper says contains an actual noodle, cream, Parmesan, pecan and nutmeg and which Kelly recommends offering with a Chardonnay.  Full disclosure: Timing matters  with these babies so you may need to surrender half-time or game time viewing to get it right.
