British-American Business Council to Host Event on Politics of Energy in Mexico

Mexico's energy reform and how it will affect doing business in the region will be discussed by the British Embassy Mexico City's Richard Shackleton at a luncheon on June 18 at Le Mistral hosted by the British-American Business Council.

HOUSTON - June 4, 2014 - PRLog -- Last year, Mexico's legislature passed historic reforms for the energy sector, with the aim of opening the way for much-needed foreign direct investment to the nationalized energy industry for the first time since 1938.

Mr. Richard Shackleton of the British Embassy in Mexico will discuss the prospects and challenges confronting Mexico's energy reform and the implications for the oil, gas and power sectors at a luncheon hosted by the British-American Business Council  on June 18 at Le Mistral in the Energy Corridor, Houston TX. The event is sponsored by ABIP CPAs.

Mr. Shackleton joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1990. He has since been posted to the UK Mission to the United Nations in New York, the UK Trade and Investment Office in Bogotá, Colombia and the British Embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria.He took a career break to work as International Director for the Bogotá Children’s Museum in Colombia. In 2000, he was nominated as Deputy Director of the British Council in Colombia. He has also worked in the FCO's Climate Change and Energy Department in London, focusing on energy security issues in Russia and the Caspian Region and in the Department of Energy and Climate Change on the international climate change negotiations. He was posted to Mexico City in June 2012 to lead on the Embassy's energy, climate change and programme work.
