NEW YORK - Feb. 16, 2015 - PRLog -- A Brooklyn woman who alleged that she was falsely arrested on September 11, 2014, and then charged with OGA, which is short for obstructing governmental administration, has agreed to accept the City's settlement offer to resolve the allegations contained within her lawsuit. Shernette is slated to receive $15,000.00 from the City and she was represented by Attorney Michael Redenburg, whose practice concentration includes civil rights litigation.

According to the Complaint, Shernette was in the vicinity of Euclid Avenue and Blake Avenue, East NewYork Brooklyn when the incident took place. She was operating her motor vehicle on her way to the dentist and she stopped to see a man she knew from the neighborhood. She then continued on her way and was surrounded by 8 NYPD cars. They ordered her out of her car and demanded that she produce her license and registration, which she did.

Shernette was placed under arrest and then spent more than 27 hours in police custody before appearing in front of a criminal court judge. It was there that the criminal charges levied against her were dismissed in the entirety. She then filed suit.

Michael Redenburg represented Shernette and regularly represents false arrest victims from Manhattan, Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn, NY.
