PRLog -- Some hypothyroid patients do not see satisfactory relief of emotional symptoms after adequate or optimal hormone replacement, that is given ample time. Doctors also don't always tell patients they may have some adjustment symptoms to the dose or side effects of their bodies adjusting to the hormone coming in from the outside (I wasn't). Your own thyroid slows its own production of hormones even more as a result of the hormone supplementation and you may reach a break-even point before improvement takes place. Many patients I've corresponded with - myself included in this fact, attest to having a worsening of their symptoms before they started improving. It's a strange phenomenon but absolutely dose take place regardless of whether some doctors are aware of it or not. Patients also do not often communicate well with their doctors. Some patients need the additional help of emotional stabilizing drugs or counseling/therapy and should not feel ashamed or embarrassed about it.
