Gurung Community in Nepal Marked Their New Year By Celebrating Tamu Lhosar

KATHMANDU, Nepal - Jan. 2, 2019 - PRLog -- Tamu Pelu group organized a program for Tamu Lhosar on every 5^th Poush of the lunar calendar (20 December). This program falls during Lhoshar festival celebrated by the Gurung ethnic groups in Nepal. Further, Loshar festival marks New Year for the Gurung community.

This program actually helps in preserving the culture and traditions of the Gurung Community.

Like Chinese New Year, this year the community have bid a farewell to dogs and welcomed deer. The program was formally inaugurated by the formal Minister of Law and Justice Dev Gurung. "We should preserve our culture and religion in order to develop the whole nation", said Dev Gurung.

Further, the grand celebration of this festival falls during tourist season in Nepal, hence various Nepal tour packages including this festival can be included by different tourism entrepreneurs.

This festival lasts for four days. During this festival various cultural scholars provided cultural speech, various games were organized, literature competition was conducted, and blood donations were made.
