SHAWNEE, Kan. - Nov. 11, 2022 - PRLog -- As the nation honors American heroes for their military service on Veterans Day, November 11, 2022, Kansas Palliative & Hospice Care (KPHC) recognizes veterans and their families, providing veteran-specific care and items of appreciation. As a We Honor Veterans (WHV) four-star partner, KPHC asserts a Veteran-to-Veteran volunteer program, recognition and pinning ceremonies, and assistance with navigating veteran benefits. This year, KPHC is distributing military recognition certificates, gifts, and roses to veterans and their widows in Wyandotte, Leavenworth, Johnson, and Miami counties.

Crystal Shovlowsky, Community Relations Director, conveyed, "Our community relations team is working with several senior communities and VA clinics in Shawnee, Lenexa, and Paola to honor the veterans. Our team is making sure these veterans know how much we respect and appreciate their service."

KPHC has partnered with caregiving communities and Veterans Affairs (VA) clinics in our service area to honor over 200 Veterans. Collaborating with Legacy Homeschool Enrichment Center and Genesis Christian Academy, participants worked with the students to create art for veterans and to discuss ways in which to honor them.

"We worked in conjunction with community partners for Veterans Day. Local homeschooling and early education programs allowed us to visit, share Veterans Day stories and our KPHC roles, and create art for veterans. Hearing students express their feelings about veterans and their plans to continually honor them and relaying those messages to the veterans and their families, is a blessing." said, Mia Gardner, volunteer coordinator.
