Pulse Family-Centered Patient Advocacy Training Unites Patient Advocates Experts and Family Caregive

WANTAGH, N.Y. - March 31, 2025 - PRLog -- On Thursday and Friday, March 27-28, 2025 Pulse Center for Patient Safety Education & Advocacy held the latest edition of its Family-Centered Patient Advocacy Training (FCPA) in Plainview, NY.

The program combined lecture modules on proven techniques for reducing the chances of injury or death from medical error, with interactive exercises in communication and presentations from national leaders of the patient safety movement including Wayne A. Murphy from Joint Commission Resources, Helen Haskell (Mothers Against Medical Error), Medstar's  Kristen Miller on diagnostic error, Dr. Bruce Hirsch (infectious diseases) and Bill Solz with Margarita Kuyenov on the stress-reduction technique called "havening".

Participants — who came from 12 states and Canada to attend — earned a certificate of completion and the option to be listed as patient advocates on Pulse's website. (pulsecenterforpatientsafety.org/fcpadvocates)

For the first time, Pulse also honored two prominent patient safety leaders: a Lifetime Achievement award for the "Aging Icon" Caryn Isaacs (https://carynisaacs.com/), and a "Champion for Patient Advocates" award for L. Bradley Schwartz, founder and head of the umbrella organization Greater National Advocates.
