By: Brian Pearl/Share Our Shoes Jennifer Pierce, the founder of Share Our Shoes, says “SOS has spent a good part of this year collecting and delivering shoes to victims of the earthquake in Haiti. While working with other local groups, I was exposed to the enormous need for shoes that exists in our own back yard. We decided to launch Project Home to not just focus attention on the need, but to also do something about it. SOS has put shoes on thousands of people in Haiti and is looking forward to doing the same in the Triangle.” Anyone in need of shoes is encouraged to visit SOS’ facility on Capital Blvd in Raleigh Monday - Friday between 3pm & 5pm. Share Our Shoes requires a current living situation ID from a shelter, recovery program or state run facility. We also accept referrals, on letterhead, from churches and other public assistance programs. To support Project Home, SOS is expanding its Shoe Drive and Barefoot programs, as well as asking individuals to clean out their closets and donate their unwanted shoes.
